Hoeft State Park
Nestled on the shores of Lake Huron, this heavily wooded, 340-acre park offers a mile of sandy shoreline. The park is home to a modern campground, mini cabin, lodge, 4 miles of trails and a historic, stone and log pavilion.
A 10-foot-wide, paved trail connects to the Huron Sunrise Trail near the park entrance.
History buffs will appreciate the park’s rich past. Designated as one of the first Michigan state parks, the land was originally donated in 1922. Explore the historic picnic shelter, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, and learn about the park's role in Michigan's conservation history.

Playground
An accessible playground, located just outside the modern campground, sits on a rubberized surface that makes access easier for those of all mobility levels. There’s a small parking lot across from sites #2-4.
A sand volleyball court is located between the playground and Lake Huron, via a trail near site #7.
Biking
A 10-foot-wide, paved trail starts in the day-use area and connects to the Huron Sunrise Trail near the park entrance.

Hunting is allowed in the area of the state park west of U.S. 23; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations.
Metal detecting
Metal detecting is allowed in certain park areas. Please consult the park map for designated locations and review applicable regulations. Only registered campers can metal detect in campgrounds.

Nature programs
Seasonal naturalists offer nature-based programming at the park during the summer and/or fall. Check the park's explorer program calendar for dates, locations and topics.

The picnic area is in the day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.
Picnic shelter
The historic, stone and log Sunrise Pavilion, constructed in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, provides a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The site includes a group grill, a potable water source and modern restrooms. Guests share a parking lot with other visitors. The shelter can be reserved up by calling 1-800-447-2757 or visiting MiDNRReservations.com.

The park’s sanitation station is located along the entrance road to the campground. There is potable water available and two lanes.

There are two buoyed swim areas, including one in the park’s day-use area and another located off the campground, via a short trail located between sites #21 and 23.

This rustic group campground can accommodate 30 campers. The site provides picnic tables and a fire pit. There are two drinking fountains and jug fillers within walking distance. When the Sunrise Pavilion is not rented, modern restrooms are available.

Hoeft Sears and Roebuck Modern Lodge
The 1920s-era Sears and Roebuck Lodge, located near the campground entrance, sleeps eight. The three bedrooms are outfitted with three queen-size beds and a set of bunk beds. Amenities includes two futons, a table/chairs, refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and cookware. There are a grill (charcoal not provided), fire pit and picnic table outdoors. Guests must provide their own linens.
Guests are expected to clean the lodge prior to their departure.
The lodge is open year-round.

Hoeft Mini Cabin
The mini cabin sleeps four people in a bunk bed and futon. It's furnished with an electric heater, a small table and two chairs. There is no plumbing. There is a grill, fire ring and picnic table located outside. You must provide your own linens and cookware.

Hoeft Modern Campground
The modern campground is divided into two loops, the east and west loops. Most sites are generous in size and are shaded by oaks, maples, hemlocks and pines. The campground is located near a swimming beach, a small playground and sand volleyball courts. All sites have either 20- or 30-amp service, and a few sites have 20-, 30- and 50-amp service. There’s a connector trail near site #75 that links the campground and the park’s trails.
