Lake Hudson Recreation Area
Lake Hudson Recreation Area, located near the Ohio border, surrounds the park's namesake no-wake lake and is home to a dark sky preserve, a semimodern campground, a designated swim beach, a boating access site, a 1.5-mile trail and more.
The park is also popular for fishing - and known for muskie - paddling, hunting and more. The park encompasses a lake, native grass fields that are part of a pheasant restoration project and forested areas.
The park is home to a dark sky preserve - the first in Michigan's state park system - that offers excellent night-sky viewing. The preserve, located by the park's picnic shelter, and is open 24 hours a day year-round.

The park offers an accessible hunting blind available on a first-come, first-served basis in the mornings or afternoons. Please call the park at 517-445-2265.
Track chair
The park's track chair expands access beyond traditional wheelchairs. The chair is available for visitors to borrow at no cost.
Boat launch
A boating access site with a courtesy pier and kayak launch are located at the far end of the day-use area.

Fishing
Lake Hudson, a 502-acre, man-made lake with a maximum depth of 25 feet, has a variety of fish species, including muskie, large-mouth bass, crappie and walleye.

Hunting
Hunting is allowed in the state park; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations. The park features a no-wake lake popular for waterfowl hunting and native grass fields, part of a pheasant restoration project.
Metal detecting
Metal detecting is allowed in certain park areas. Please consult the park map for designated locations and review applicable regulations. Only registered campers can metal detect in campgrounds.
Paddling
Paddling is a popular activity in Lake Hudson. The lake is a no-wake lake.
Pet-friendly features
Pets are allowed along the entire length of Lake Hudson except for the designated swim beach .
Picnic area
The picnic area is in the park’s day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.
Picnic shelter
There is a picnic shelter, located in the dark-sky viewing area, which includes picnic tables, charcoal grills and vault toilets. Shelter reservations can be made 12 months in advance at MiDNRReservations.com.

The park is open to snowmobiling on open land (backcountry snowmobiling) when there are over 3 inches of snow on the ground. Snowmobiles are prohibited on park trails and in campground areas.

Lake Hudson Semi-Modern Campground
This semi-modern campground includes 48 campsites and two cabins. The campsites, considered large and private, provide some shade. Potable water is available via a hand pump at the entrance to the campground. The campground is located near the lake, and some sites have a lake view. There are no modern restrooms; however, vault toilets are available.
Campsite electrical pedestals are often located between campsites, which may require an additional 50-foot extension cord.

Lake Hudson Lakeview Cabin
The Lakeview Cabin, located about 50 feet from Lake Hudson, is on site #19 in the park's semimodern campground. The cabin sleeps up to three people and includes one full-size and one twin bed.
The campground has access to vault toilets and a hand pump for water. The campground is open April 1 to Nov. 30. There is no heat. There is one electrical outlet inside and one outside.
Guests are required to provide their own bedding and cookware.

The park's new accessible tiny house is on site #22 in the park's semi-modern campground. It sleeps four people, with a full-size bed on the main floor and a full-size bed in the loft.
The cabin has electrical service, including air conditioning, ceiling lights and a fan. There is no running water or bathroom, but guests have access to vault toilets in the campground. Potable water is available via a hand pump at the entrance of the campground.
Amenities include a small table and chairs, a mini fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker and a TV. There is a deck/porch, picnic table and fire pit outdoors.
Guests are required to provide their own bedding and cookware.
