January 2011: Michigan Mentoring Month

ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN
I, Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 2011

MICHIGAN MENTORING MONTH

WHEREAS, The future of Michigan's children is the responsibility of all citizens; and,
 
WHEREAS, With each new commitment to become a mentor, Michigan is securing a bright and prosperous future for generations ahead; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mentors work diligently to ensure that children realize their own personal value and potential and instill in them the hope for a brighter future; and,
 
WHEREAS, By sharing their time with a young person, mentors can "Pass It On" by sharing of themselves with a young person; and,
 
WHEREAS, With a simple contribution of time, mentoring can be a positive and rewarding experience for both a mentor and a mentee; and,
 
WHEREAS, Today's consistent, dependable and trustworthy mentors are teaching core values to our future leaders; and,
 
WHEREAS, Michigan Mentoring Month provides an opportunity to recognize and commend the efforts of mentoring programs throughout the state and raise community awareness of the importance of mentoring;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 2011 as Michigan Mentoring Month, and I encourage all citizens to consider the positive impact one can make by becoming a mentor.
