The Michigan Commission for the Blind Training Center

Michigan Commission for the Blind Training Center sign

The Michigan Commission for the Blind Training Center (MCBTC) provides training and services to blind and visually impaired residents of the state of Michigan and elsewhere.  MCBTC staff believe in the capabilities of individuals who are blind to participate in every activity of daily living.

The experienced staff together with community partners and resources help people who are blind and visually impaired acquire the skills, strategies and attitudes necessary for overcoming the many challenges presented by blindness.  Staff at the center know well that loss of vision, though difficult at first, need not prevent people from leading independent, happy and productive lives.  In fact, roughly one-third of the onsite staff are blind themselves, and attest to this reality through personal experience and example every day.

Those attending the center must be clients of the Michigan Commission for the Blind who are at least 16 years of age.  There is no maximum age requirement.  Referrals are made through MCB counselors and/or teachers statewide.
