    Leaders in Service Awards to be announced at Annual Giving & Volunteering Celebration

    WHAT: The Michigan Giving & Volunteering Celebration is an annual event that celebrates the many ways in which Michigan volunteers and philanthropists are making a difference in their communities. In addition to a formal presentation of the 2011 Leaders in Service Awards, MNA will share the latest giving and volunteering statistics for the state in celebration of National Volunteer Week.

    WHEN: April 13, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    WHERE: State Capitol Lawn in downtown Lansing.

    WHO: Speakers: Lloyd Carr (spokesperson for mentoring initiatives); two volunteer testimonials

    Award Recipients: Representative Joan Bauer (D-Lansing), Senator Randy Richardville (R-Monroe), Mayor Dave Bing (Detroit), Mayor George Heartwell (Grand Rapids), Mayor Bobby Hopewell (Kalamazoo), Mayor Stephen Warmington (Muskegon), Mayor Dayne Walling (Flint) to receive the 2011 Leaders in Service Awards.

    The event is hosted by Michigan Nonprofit Association, the Michigan Community Service Commission, Michigan Campus Compact, Volunteer Centers of Michigan, the Council of Michigan Foundations and the Corporation for National and Community Service - Michigan Office.
