The Michigan Parole Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 27, 2008, to consider the possible parole of Haitham J. Kafanden, #216585. It will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Handlon, Richard A. Correctional Facility in Ionia, Michigan.
Haitham J. Kafanden is serving a life sentence for Conspiracy to Deliver over 650 grams of Cocaine. He was sentenced on May 2, 1991 from Oakland County.
Barbara Sampson, Chairperson of the Michigan Parole Board, will conduct the hearing under the provisions of the Lifer Law, MCLA 791.234(6).
By statute, prisoners serving a life sentence under MCL 333.74012A1, must serve 15, 17½ or 20 calendar years, based on predetermined factors, before the parole board can obtain jurisdiction.
