Reflecting on the Space Shuttle Tragedy
February 03, 2003
Saturday, February 1, 2003
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today released the following statement reflecting on this morning’s Space Shuttle tragedy. Granholm has requested that flags be lowered to half-staff across Michigan in observance of the nation’s loss.
“America and the world lost seven heroes today. Like all of us in Michigan, my thoughts and prayers will be with their families and loved ones as they try to cope with this incalculable loss. The shuttle astronauts gave wings to our collective dream of flight; they touched the stars for all of us who cannot. We will remember them as we watched them – with awe, wonder and great pride.”
