Governor Granholm Names Former State Representative A.T. Frank to State Tax Commission
March 17, 2003
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of former State Representative A.T. Frank as a chair of the State Tax Commission.
“A.T. has always made the welfare of Michigan citizens his top priority,” Granholm said. “He is committed to serving the public good, and I know that he’ll continue that commitment in his new role.”
Frank, 36, of Saginaw, most recently represented the 96th State House District from 1996 to 2002. As the ranking Democrat of the House Appropriations Committee, he served on the sub-committees of Consumer and Industry Services, Agriculture, General Government, and Higher Education.
Frank also practices law with the Saginaw-based firm, Frank and Forster, P.C., where he specializes in the areas of consumer protection, constitutional law, administrative law, and tort litigation.
He received his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1992 and holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University.
From 1986 to 1993, Frank held several positions with the Michigan Retailers
Association including governmental affairs assistant and attorney for governmental
affairs.
The State Tax Commission has general supervision of the administration of the
property tax laws in Michigan. The commission also serves on the State Board
of Assessors which is responsible for assessing certain state-assessed properties
such as telephone companies and railroads.
