Governor Granholm Appoints Lockwood as Transportation Commission Advisor

April 9, 2003

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of former State Representative Patricia Lockwood as Transportation Commission Advisor.

“Michigan citizens and the Department of Transportation will benefit greatly from Pat’s energy and enthusiasm,” Granholm said. “Her years of experience in the Legislature and in local government will be invaluable as we move Michigan forward.”

While serving as a state representative, Lockwood was as a member of the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittees responsible for Capital Outlay, Retirement, and Transportation. She also served as the Minority Vice-Chair of the subcommittees for Consumer and Industry Services, History Arts and Libraries, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Department of Career Development, and the Michigan Strategic Fund.

Lockwood resides in Fenton where she served as Mayor from 1989 to 1998. She is past president of the Genesee County cities and villages organization and the Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In her new position, Lockwood will report to the chairman of the six-member State Transportation Commission and will assist the commission in fulfilling its constitutional and statutory duties. She will supervise, coordinate, and serve as a liaison for all commission activities, including the development, formulation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and legislation.
