Governor Granholm Appoints Samona, Gagliardi to Liquor Control Commission

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced that Nida Samona and Pat Gagliardi have been named to the Liquor Control Commission.

Gagliardi’s appointment will take effect Thursday, July 17, and Samona’s appointment will take effect Monday, August 25.

“Nida and Pat are two highly qualified professionals who will ensure that Michigan is enforcing the state’s liquor laws and that the people of Michigan are obeying those laws,” Granholm said.  

Samona, of Southfield, most recently served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Macomb County, assigned to the Criminal Sexual Conduct Unit.  Previously, Samona served as a trial attorney in Macomb County District Court and Circuit Court. Samona earned her law degree at The Detroit College of Law and holds a bachelor’s of arts degree from Marygrove College in Detroit.

Pat Gagliardi, of Lansing, most recently served as a business and governmental consultant at Gagliardi & Associates and as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Lake Superior State University.  

Gagliardi served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1982 to 1998 representing the 107th District which included Chippewa, Luce, Emmet, Mackinac, and Schoolcraft Counties.  He served as the House Majority Floor Leader from 1989 to 1998.

Gagliardi received his bachelor’s of arts degree from Lake Superior State University. 

The appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
