Governor Appoints five to Commission on Services to the Aging

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today appointed five individuals to the Commission on Services to the Aging.  The Governor designated Jerutha Kennedy chairperson of the commission.

The commission advises the Office of Services to the Aging, the Governor, and the Legislature on matters relating to policies and programs for older and aging persons in Michigan.  The commission also promotes senior citizen interests within state government and communities.

Jerutha Kennedy, of Detroit, is unit director for the Neighborhood Service Organization.  She will be replacing Virginia Teich whose term has expired.  Kennedy has been appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2006.  Her term as chairperson expires at the pleasure of the Governor.

Herman Dooha, of Detroit, is retired from a career as a controller with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation.  He will be replacing Lilo Hoelzel-Seipp whose term has expired.  Dooha has been appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2006.

Sonia Harb, of Birmingham, is the area director for the Workforce Development and Youth Education at ACCESS in Dearborn.  She will be replacing Esther Howell whose term has expired.  Harb is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2006.

James W. Shelton, of Battle Creek, is an executive advisor for Local 517.  He will be replacing Carol Birch whose term has expired.  Shelton is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2006.

Alberta Wilburn, of Detroit, is retired from a career as the deputy director for the Detroit Recreation Department.  She will be replacing Richard Marion whose term has expired.  Wilburn is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2006.

These appointments are subject to advice and consent of the Senate.
