Granholm Appoints Kimberley Wiegand Judge of 41-A District Court

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Kimberley Wiegand as Judge of the 41-A District Court in Sterling Heights.
 
“Kimberley has a tremendous passion for the law and a strong desire to serve the citizens of Sterling Heights,” Granholm said.
 
Wiegand has been a practicing attorney for the past 12 years.  Previously, she served two terms as a council member for the City of Sterling Heights, the last two years as mayor pro tem by virtue of attaining the most votes in the election. Wiegand also served as president of the Utica Community Action Team (UCAT), a local coalition dedicated to reducing drug and tobacco use among young people in the communities of Sterling Heights, Utica, Shelby Township, and Macomb Township.
 
Wiegand earned her law degree from Detroit College of Law and received a bachelor’s of arts degree from Michigan State University.
   
She replaces Judge Kenneth J. Kosnic who has retired.  Wiegand’s term will expire January 1, 2005.
