Governor Granholm Announces New Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced appointments to the Commission on Services to the Aging and the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission.
Commission on Services to the Aging
Jewel Ware, of Detroit, currently a Wayne County Commissioner. She succeeds Elwin Johnson who has resigned. Ware is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2005.
Michigan Freedom Trail Commission
Dr. Veta S. Tucker, A.D., of Grand Rapids, an associate professor of English and African American Studies at Grand Valley State University. Tucker succeeds Weldon E. Petz whose term has expired. Dr. Tucker is appointed to represent the academic community knowledgeable in African-American history for a term expiring February 1, 2007.
Ms. Margaret McCall Thomas Ward, of Detroit, currently a consultant at the Charles Wright Museum of African American History. She is re-appointed to represent the museum of African American history in Detroit for a term expiring February 1, 2007.
