Governor Granholm Appoints Four to the Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointments of four individuals to the Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board.

The board is responsible for administrating state and federal funding for domestic violence shelters and advocacy services; developing and recommending policy; and developing and providing technical assistance and training.

The new board members are:

Gwendolyn Brown, of Detroit, a commanding officer in the Detroit Police Department domestic violence unit. She succeeds Ferne Farber whose term has expired and is appointed to a term ending September 30, 2006.

Marie Donigan, of Royal Oak, a Royal Oak city commissioner and landscape architect for the City of Farmington Hills Department of Planning and Community Development. She succeeds Catherine Lucas whose term has expired and is appointed to a term ending September 30, 2006.

Mary Beth Kur, of Charlevoix, a Charlevoix County prosecuting attorney. She succeeds the Honorable Darnell Jackson whose term has expired and is appointed to a term ending September 30, 2006.

The Honorable Amy Krause, of Lansing, Judge of the 54-A District Court of Ingham County. She succeeds James Fink whose term has expired and is appointed to a term ending September 30, 2006. Krause also has been designated as chairperson of the Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board. She will serve as chairperson at the pleasure of the Governor.
