Governor Granholm Appoints Four to Blue Cross Blue Shield Board of Directors

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointments of four individuals to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Board of Directors.  The board develops policy that benefits the quality, cost, and availability of health care coverage to Blue Cross Blue Shield members.

“These individuals are committed and ready to work hard to protect health care for Michigan’s citizens,” said Granholm.

Jim Agee, of Laingsburg, president of J.G. Agee Consultants L.L.C and co-director of the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) at Michigan State University.  Mr. Agee is reappointed to represent general public retirees for a term expiring February 18, 2006.

John Hamilton, of Marine City, business manager and international vice president of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 324.  Mr. Hamilton is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring February 18, 2006.  He succeeds George Perles whose term has expired.

Teola Hunter, of Detroit, consultant for Sloan-Hunter Group.  Ms. Hunter is appointed to represent general public retirees for a term expiring February 18, 2006.  She succeeds Sharon Wise whose term has expired.

Cullan Meathe, of Grosse Pointe Farms, chairman of Metro Cars, Inc.  Mr. Meathe is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring February 18, 2006.  He succeeds Stephen H. Terry whose term has expired.

The above appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
