LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of David Newblatt as Judge of the Genesee County Probate Court.
Newblatt, of Fenton, most recently served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office. He previously served as staff attorney for the UAW-GM Legal Services Plan and began his career as an associate with Gault, Davison, Hill, Parker & McAra of Flint in 1991.
Newblatt earned his law degree from Wayne State Law School and graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
He replaces Judge Thomas Gadola who passed away last fall creating the vacancy. Newblatt’s term will expire January 1, 2005. In 2001, the Michigan Legislature passed a bill that will effectively replace this probate position with a circuit court seat at the end of this year.
