LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority and Michigan Municipal Bond Authority Board of Trustees:
Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority
Phyllis Hooyman of Holland, director of financial aid at Hope College. Ms. Hooyman is appointed to represent private colleges for a term expiring May 22, 2007. She succeeds Jerry Scoby whose term has expired.
John Shinsky of Lansing, associate professor and chair of the School of Education at Grand Valley State University. Mr. Shinsky is appointed to represent state supported 4-year public colleges and universities without elected governing bodies for a term expiring May 22, 2007. He succeeds Dr. Curtis Tompkins whose term has expired
Craig Douglas, PhD of Saginaw, superintendent of Carrollton Public Schools. Dr. Douglas is appointed to represent secondary schools for a term expiring May 22, 2007. He succeeds Mr. Doug Dodge whose term has expired.
Harvey Hollins, III of Lansing, vice president of government affairs for Wayne State University. Mr. Hollins is appointed to represent Wayne State University for a term commencing March 16, 2004, and expiring May 22, 2005. He succeeds Faye Nelson who has resigned.
Michigan Municipal Bond Authority Board of Trustees
The Honorable Nancy L. Quarles of Southfield, former state representative. Ms. Quarles is appointed to represent residents of the state of Michigan for a term expiring January 1, 2007. She succeeds Mark Burzych whose term has expired.
All of the above appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
