Governor Granholm Appoints Two to Lake Superior State University Board of Control

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm recently appointed Cindy Dingell and Willard "Frenchie" Lajoie to the Lake Superior State University (LSSU) Board of Control.
Cindy Dingell, of Trenton, is the Deputy COO of the office of Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano. She is also a past member of the LSSU Alumni Board and worked with the LSSU Foundation. Ms. Dingell is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring January 27, 2012. She succeeds Doris Galvin whose term has expired.
Willard "Frenchie" Lajoie, of Sault Ste. Marie, is the CEO for Central Savings Bank. He received an honorary doctorate from LSSU. Mr. Lajoie represents the general public for a term expiring January 27, 2012. He succeeds Gary Benjamin whose term has expired.
Both Ms. Dingell and Mr. Lajoie are graduates of Lake Superior State University and have demonstrated a commitment to the university and the community in which it serves.
The LSSU Board of Control is the governing body for university. The board oversees the conduct of the university's affairs, has control of the university's property, and has the ability to fix tuition and other fees, appoint and/or remove personnel, and determine compensation to be paid for services and property.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
