LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Kay Hansen as judge of the 36th District Court in Detroit.
Hansen, of Detroit, was most recently an assistant attorney general serving as counsel for the Wayne County Family Independence Agency in child abuse and neglect matters. Prior to her role in the Attorney General's Office, Hansen was a board member for the Michigan Employment Security Board of Review, where she evaluated de novo transcripts of unemployment compensation and unemployment tax hearings on appeal from the Unemployment Agency (formerly known as the MESC).
Hansen earned her law degree from Drake University School of Law and graduated from Morningside College.
She replaces Judge John R. Perry who recently passed away, creating the vacancy. Hansen's term will expire January 1, 2005.
