LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointments of Timothy O. Brian and Frederick J. Tubbs to the Agricultural Marketing and Bargaining Board.
Brian, of Interlochen in Grand Traverse County, is appointed for a term expiring September 1, 2004, and succeeds Sandra L. Gesler, who has resigned.
Tubbs, of Hart in Oceana County, has been reappointed for a term expiring September 1, 2007.
Public Act 344 of 1972 called for the Agricultural Marketing & Bargaining Board to determine the appropriate definition of the bargaining unit for an agricultural commodity. The board also administers accreditation procedures, designates members of the bargaining unit annually, implements arbitration procedures as needed, and protects the rights of both growers and handlers against unfair practices.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
