Governor Granholm, Chief Justice Maura Corrigan Name Sauter to Child Support Leadership Council

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm and Chief Justice Maura Corrigan today announced the appointment of Jeffrey L. Sauter, Eaton County Prosecutor, to the Child Support Leadership Council. The council advises the Governor and the Supreme Court in the development and implementation of strategic goals for improving services to Michigan families. Mr. Sauter succeeds Scott Teter whose term has expired.
Mr. Sauter, of Charlotte, serves as Eaton County prosecuting attorney. He was first appointed to the position in 1991. He is an active member of the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan where he serves on the board of directors. Mr. Sauter has served on a number of committees with the prosecutors’ association including as chair of the Child Support Committee, the Child Protection Committee, the Legislative Committee and the Domestic Violence Training Committee.
Mr. Sauter is a member of the Eaton County Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association, and is an adjunct professor of criminal procedure at Lansing Community College. He will serve as the appointee of the Governor and the Chief Justice representing the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan for a term expiring April 11, 2006.
This appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
