Governor Granholm Announces Appointments to State Officers' Compensation Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced three appointments to the State Officers’ Compensation Commission.  The commission establishes pay and expenses for the offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court, and members of the Legislature.  The Michigan Constitution states that no person can serve on the commission for more than one four-year term.  Appointees are:

Gary G. Corbin of East Lansing, president of Corbin Consulting, LLC and a former state senator.  Mr. Corbin is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2008.  He succeeds Lewis N. Dodak whose term has expired.

Penny L. Deitch of Bingham Farms, director of diversity and community relations for Compuware in Detroit.  Ms. Deitch is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2008.  She succeeds Eugene A. Gargaro, Jr. whose term has expired.

Larry L. Leatherwood of Lansing, self-employed executive consultant/trainer and a retiree of the Michigan Department of Transportation.  Mr. Leatherwood is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2008.  He succeeds Gordon E. Guyer whose term has expired.

These appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
