Governor Granholm Announces Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm announced the following recent appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Statewide Independent Living Council and Michigan Rehabilitation Advisory Council:
Michigan Statewide Independent Living Council
Carol L. Bergquist, Ph.D. of Wilson, director of vocational rehabilitation services at Hannahville Indian Community. Dr. Bergquist is appointed to represent American Indian vocational rehabilitation projects for a term expiring October 14, 2007.
Robert J. DeVary of Port Huron, executive director of the Blue Water Center for Independent Living. Mr. DeVary is reappointed to represent directors of centers for independent living for a term expiring October 14, 2007.
Jennifer S. Flack of Orchard Lake, shareholder and attorney for Seyburn, Kahn, Ginn, Bess & Serlin, P.C. Ms. Flack is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring October 14, 2006. She succeeds Karen Kay whose term has expired.
Mary P. Sharp, M.D. of East Lansing, counsel for handicapped infants and toddlers at Lansing Nephrology. Dr. Sharp is appointed to represent parents and guardians of individuals with disabilities for a term expiring October 14, 2006. She succeeds Vivian Parker whose term has expired.
Michigan Rehabilitation Advisory Council
Manuela K. Kress, Ph.D., LPC, C.R.C. of Lansing, director of employment advocacy for Michigan Protection & Advocacy Services, Inc. Dr. Kress is appointed to represent the client assistance program established under Title I of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for a term expiring September 14, 2006. She succeeds Cindie Alwood whose term has expired.
Susan M. Pratt of Kentwood, project manager for Citizens Alliance to Uphold Special Education (CAUSE). Ms. Pratt is appointed to represent parents, family members, guardians, advocates, or authorized representatives of individuals with disabilities who have difficulty in representing themselves or who are unable, due to their disabilities, to represent themselves for a term expiring September 14, 2006. She succeeds Viki Gingras whose term has expired.
Carol L. Bergquist, Ph.D. of Wilson, director of vocational rehabilitation services at Hannahville Indian Community. Dr. Bergquist is reappointed to represent vocational rehabilitation counselors with knowledge of and experience with vocational rehabilitation programs for a term expiring September 14, 2006.
These appointments and reappointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
