Governor Granholm Makes Appointment to Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of James L. Herbert to serve as a member of the Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors, which serves as the state's lead business development and finance agency.
Herbert, of Lansing, is president and chief executive officer of Neogen Corporation and was one of the founders of the company in 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee. He has served as a member of a number of trade and community organizations.
Mr. Herbert is appointed to represent the private sector for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor. He succeeds Margaret O’Riley who has resigned.
This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
