Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Board of Dentistry

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Board of Dentistry:
Rhonda J. Hennessy, DDS, of Northville, general dentist for Romulus Family Dental, PC. Dr. Hennessy is appointed to represent dentists for a term expiring June 30, 2008. She succeeds Jane Grover whose term has expired.
Raymond A. Maturo, DDS, of Ann Arbor, pediatric dentist for Raymond A. Maturo, DDS, PC. Dr. Maturo is appointed to represent dentists with health specialty certification for a term expiring June 30, 2008. He succeeds Jeffrey Schmidt whose term has expired.
Martha S. Swiger of Petoskey, registered dental hygienist for Bryan T. Stump, DMD Family Dentistry. Ms. Swiger is appointed to represent dental hygienists for a term expiring June 30, 2008. She succeeds Linda Borowski whose term has expired.
Ashraf M. Maher, DDS, of Kalamazoo, owner of Dentist Plus in Portage and staff physician dentist for the emergency room at Bronson Hospital. Dr. Maher is reappointed to represent dentists for a term expiring June 30, 2008.
Barbara A. Purifoy-Seldon of Southfield, associate professor of the Department of Periodontology and Dental Hygiene and assistant to the Dean of Special Projects at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Ms. Purifoy-Seldon is reappointed to represent dental hygienists for a term expiring June 30, 2008.
The board is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, or dental assisting in Michigan, and for the certification of dental specialists.
These appointments and reappointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
