Governor Granholm Announces Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Commission for the Blind and Correctional Officers’ Training Council:
Commission for the Blind
Sheila R. Ashcraft of Pontiac, president of Ashcraft Consulting. Ms. Ashcraft is appointed to represent blind persons for a term expiring September 30, 2007. She succeeds Peeti L. Greene whose term has expired.
Richard J. Grant of Belding. Mr. Grant is appointed to represent blind persons for a term expiring September 30, 2007. He succeeds Barbara A. Thomas whose term has expired.
The above appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Correctional Officers’ Training Council
Andrew C. Potter of Lake Odessa, corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Mr. Potter is appointed to represent state corrections officers for a term expiring March 30, 2007. He succeeds Dennis L. Sommers whose term has expired.
Elizabeth A. Foley of Sault Ste. Marie, assistant professor at Lake Superior State University. Ms. Foley is reappointed to represent the academic community for a term expiring March 30, 2007.
This appointment and reappointment are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
