Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science:
David W. Akins of Detroit, director of Wilson-Akins Funeral Homes. Mr. Akins is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring June 30, 2008. He succeeds Chris A. Anderson whose term has expired.
Thomas P. Lynch of Milford, owner and funeral director of Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors. Mr. Lynch is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring June 30, 2007. He succeeds Kevin B. Curtin whose term has expired.
The Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science, created by Act 299 of 1980, provides for the licensure and regulation of mortuary science practitioners, sets qualifications and examination requirements, and provides penalties for violation of the act.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
