Governor Granholm Appoints Petrie to State Teacher Tenure Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm announced the recent appointment of James M. Petrie to the State Teacher Tenure Commission. Petrie, of Northville, is a retired schoolteacher and a trustee on the Wayne County Regional Education Service Agency. He also served as an executive board member of Wayne County Association of School Boards from 1984-1990 and served as president of the association in 1989.
Mr. Petrie is appointed to represent boards of education for a term expiring August 31, 2009. He succeeds Carol Klenow whose term has expired.
The State Teacher Tenure Commission renders decisions on appeals by teachers contesting rulings made by their local school boards concerning their tenure rights.
This appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
