Granholm Appoints Richard Wygonik Judge of 19th District Court

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Richard Wygonik as Judge of the 19th District Court in Dearborn.
“Richard’s years of legal experience and his deep ties to the Dearborn community make him an excellent choice for the bench, and I am confident he will serve the community well,” Granholm said.
Before establishing his independent private practice, Wygonik, of Dearborn, practiced general and trial law at Wygonik & Walsh law firm in Dearborn. He began his legal career more than 30 years ago at Hurwitz and Karp, which later became Hurwitz, Karp and Wygonik.
Wygonik earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.
He replaces the Honorable Virginia A. Sobotka who has retired. Wygonik’s term will commence on March 14, 2005 and expires January 1, 2007.
The 19th District Court has jurisdiction over the city of Dearborn.
