Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Broadband Development Authority

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Broadband Development Authority Board of Directors: 

Larry L. Leatherwood of Lansing, self-employed executive consultant and trainer of ethics and conflict management.  Mr. Leatherwood, a Democrat, is appointed to represent members with knowledge, skill, or experience in the academic, business, technology or financial fields for a term expiring December 31, 2007.  He succeeds Cyril Moscow whose term has expired.

Cyntia N. Zerkowski of Farmington Hills, director of Macomb County Management Information Services (MIS).  Ms. Zerkowski, a Republican, is appointed to represent members with knowledge, skill, or experience in the academic, business, technology or financial fields for a term expiring December 31, 2007.  She succeeds Suzanne Cole whose term has expired.

The mission of the Michigan Broadband Development Authority Board of Directors is to expand broadband access for Michigan's citizens and businesses, and offer public and private sector organizations low-cost financing for the acquisition of hardware, software and services that will improve or increase their use of broadband technologies.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointments stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
