Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Natural Resources Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointment to the Natural Resources Commission:
Darnell Earley of Lansing, deputy city manager and interim finance director for the city of Saginaw. Mr. Earley is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring December 31, 2008. He succeeds William Parfet who has resigned.
Frank C. Wheatlake of Big Rapids, chairman and CEO of Reed City Powerline Supply Co. Mr. Wheatlake is reappointed to represent Independents for a term expiring December 31, 2008.
The Commission establishes general policies for the Department of Natural Resources and hires the department’s director. Voter adoption of Proposal G in November 1996 vests exclusive authority in the Natural Resources Commission to regulate the taking of game.
This appointment and reappointment are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
