LANSING – Following today’s revenue estimating conference, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm called the shortfalls in FY ’05 “manageable” and said she would propose a solution to the FY ’06 shortage that protects the K-12 foundation allowance.
“Education is my top priority,” said Granholm. “I am committed to seeing an increase in the K-12 foundation allowance in ’06. We will balance this budget in the same way we’ve eliminated nearly $4 billion in budget deficits before: by reducing costs and protecting our priorities.”
