Governor Granholm to Hold Office Hours in Reed City June 23

May 25, 2005

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced that she will hold meetings with constituents in Reed City the evening of Thursday, June 23. The Governor holds constituent office hours once a month to recognize special achievements and to discuss issues with citizens from across the state of Michigan.

"I want to bring state government closer to the people of Michigan," Granholm said. "We’re holding office hours in Reed City to give me an opportunity to meet with one of the many communities that make our state great.”

Constituents who wish to meet with the Governor in Reed City, or wish to recommend someone for special recognition, must put their request in writing, outlining the reasons they would like to speak with the Governor. The Governor’s Constituent Services Office will review all requests and schedule appointments with as many constituents as possible. Each person gets approximately 5-10 minutes with the Governor. Staff from the Constituent Services Office will be available at the conclusion of each meeting if there are remaining issues to be discussed.

The Governor will hold office hours from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Written requests for a meeting with the Governor must be sent in by Wednesday June 8.  Requests can be mailed to Constituent Services Division, Office of the Governor, P.O. Box 30013, Lansing, MI 48909, or be faxed to 517-335-6863.

"Office hours give me a chance to meet the customers of state government face-to-face, and to applaud those people who are making a difference in their community," Granholm said. "I invite the residents of Reed City to share their accomplishments and ideas and to join with me in this opportunity to shape Michigan’s future.”
