LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Frank Torre, Jr. to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board. Torre, of Bloomfield Hills, is president and CEO of Torre & Bruglio, Inc., Michigan’s largest horticultural and landscape contractor.
Mr. Torre is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring October 1, 2008. He succeeds James Thompson whose term has expired.
The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board is responsible for the acquisition of lands for resource protection and public outdoor recreation. The board determines which lands, and rights in land within the state, should be acquired and which public recreation facilities should be developed with money from the trust fund. Once determined, the Board then submits to the Legislature in January of each year a list of those lands, rights in land, and public recreation facilities that the board has determined should be acquired or developed with trust fund money, compiled in order of priority.
This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. The appointment stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
