LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement regarding Michigan Department of Agriculture Director Dan Wyant, who has announced he will step down from the post he has held since October 1996:
“Dan Wyant is an outstanding public servant who has distinguished himself during his tenure as Michigan’s Director of Agriculture. He has been a leader on issues critical to Michigan’s second largest industry and has been steadfast in promoting and protecting the food, agricultural, environmental and economic interests of the people of Michigan. Whether you enjoy Michigan fresh produce and fine wines or simply rely on quality at the gasoline pump, Dan Wyant has been there for you.
“On a personal note, I have come to rely on Dan’s professionalism in helping our administration maintain a quality of life that Michigan residents have come to expect. I thank him for his public service and wish him every success in the private sector.”
