Granholm Appoints Alton Davis Judge of the 4th District Court of Appeals

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of the Honorable Alton T. Davis to the 4th District Court of Appeals. 

Davis, of Grayling, is currently chief judge of the 46th Circuit Court.  He is the former owner of Alton T. Davis & Associates P.C. law firm.  Born and raised in rural northern Michigan, Davis earned his law degree from Detroit College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.  Known for his strong advocacy for fairness for all people, regardless of social standing or economic advantage, Judge Davis is a member of many community organizations, including serving as former director of Rotary International. 

“With more than 20 years of experience as a judge and his active involvement in the community, Alton will be an excellent addition the 4th District Court of Appeals,” Granholm said.  “I am confident he will serve both the bench and Michigan well.”
   
Davis replaces the Honorable Richard Griffin who has resigned.  His term expires January 1, 2007.
 
This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
