LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on the decision of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission to keep the Battle Creek base open:
“This was a victory for the state. I’m pleased that the BRAC Commission has decided to keep open the Kellogg Air National Guard base in Battle Creek and that we will have 24 A-10s in Michigan. I will be working with the Michigan National Guard, the National Guard Bureau, Senators Levin and Stabenow, and Representatives Schwarz and Miller to determine how best to use the assets that this decision gives to the state.”
Earlier this week, the BRAC Commission issued a decision to consolidate military procurement operations at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, which will add as many as 1,100 new civilian jobs at the Warren facility.
