Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control:
David J. Abbs of Saginaw, president of Abbs Retirement Planning Advisors. Mr. Abbs is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring July 21, 2013. He succeeds Linda Sims whose term has expired.
Leola Wilson of Saginaw, president of the Saginaw Branch of NAACP. Ms. Wilson is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring July 21, 2013. She succeeds Sandra Cotter whose term has expired.
The Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control is responsible for the general supervision of the institution and the control and direction of all expenditures from the institution's funds. If necessary, the board will bear the responsibility of electing a president of the institution.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
