Granholm Appoints Thomas Evans as Judge of 55th Circuit Court

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Thomas R. Evans as Judge of the 55th Circuit Court covering the counties of Gladwin and Clare.
Evans, of Beaverton, most recently served more than 10 years as Gladwin County prosecutor and is a legal instructor with the criminal justice department of the Kirtland Regional Police Academy at Kirtland Community College. In addition, he is professionally affiliated with the State Bar Association, Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, and American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.
Evans’ participation in civic organizations includes the Gladwin County Crimestoppers Advisory Board, the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team Board of Directors, the Gladwin County Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council, and the Gladwin County Council of Local Government.
Evans earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School and received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
He replaces the Honorable Kurt N. Hansen who has resigned. His term expires January 1, 2007.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
