Granholm Appoints Michelle Rick Judge of 29th Circuit Court

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the recent appointment of Michelle Rick as judge of the 29th Circuit Court, which serves Clinton and Gratiot counties, for a term expiring January 1, 2009.  She replaces Judge Jeffrey Martlew who has resigned.
  
Rick, of Dewitt, most recently served as deputy legal counsel for the Executive Office.  She previously served as senior assistant attorney general for the Michigan Department of Attorney General (1995-2006), was an assistant prosecutor in Livingston County, and an adjunct faculty member with Lansing Community College.  Her participation in civic organizations includes being a scout leader for the Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital Council and serving as mock trial judge for the Michigan Center for Civil Education. 
  
Rick earned her law degree from the University of Detroit and her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. 
  
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
