Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Technological University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Technological University Board of Control:
Steven J. Hicks of Marquette, president and CEO of J.M Longyear, LLC, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2014. He succeeds Michael C. Hendricksen whose term has expired.
Lenora D. Ashford of Detroit, principal of Lewis Cass Technical High School, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2014. She succeeds Norman A. Rautiola whose term has expired.
The Michigan Technological University Board of Control is responsible for the general supervision of the institution and the control and direction of all expenditures from the institution's funds. If necessary, the board will bear the responsibility of electing a president of the institution.
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
