Governor Granholm Reappoints to State Fire Safety Board

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following reappointments to the State Fire Safety Board:
Ronald R. Farr of Otsego, fire chief of the Kalamazoo Township Fire Department, is reappointed to represent organized fire departments in the Lower Peninsula for a term expiring July 15, 2011.
Earl C. Howard of Detroit, senior associate structural engineer for the City of Detroit Department of Public Works, is reappointed to represent registered professional engineers for a term expiring July 15, 2011.
Charlie J. Pritchett of Detroit, fire marshal for the City of Detroit Fire Department, is reappointed to represent organized fire departments in the Lower Peninsula for a term expiring July 15, 2011.
The State Fire Safety Board has the mission of protecting life and property from fire, smoke, hazardous materials, and fire-related panic in specific types of public facilities throughout the state of Michigan.
Governor Granholm has proclaimed this week Fire Prevention Week in Michigan and is encouraging citizens to protect themselves and their families by installing and testing smoke alarms and planning and practicing fire safety drills. These reappointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
