Governor Granholm Appoints Okdie to Eastern Michigan University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Mohamed Okdie to the Eastern Michigan University Board of Control.  Okdie, of Detroit, is a Detroit Public Schools' social worker. 

The Board of Control for Eastern Michigan University is responsible for enacting, amending, and repealing rules, bylaws and regulations for the conduct of its business and for the government of its institution. 

Mr. Okdie is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2008. He succeeds Ismael Ahmed who has resigned.

This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointment stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
