Governor Granholm Announces Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
Michigan Board of Social Work
Ronald J. Calery, M.S.W, A.C.S.W. of Sault Ste. Marie, executive director of Chippewa -Luce - Mackinac Community Action Human Resource Authority Inc., is appointed to represent certified social workers for a term expiring December 31, 2011. He succeeds Gail Hauser-Hurley whose term has expired.
Carolyn J. Curran of East Lansing, community volunteer, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2008. She succeeds Mark D. Smith who has resigned.
Anwar Najor-Durack M.S.W., A.C.S.W. of West Bloomfield, academic advisor and alumni liaison at Wayne State University School of Social Work, is reappointed to represent certified social workers for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
The Michigan Board of Social Work is responsible for the certification and registration of persons engaged in the social work profession.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Board of Architects
John G. Kraus of Grand Rapids, president of Kraus & Kessenich, is appointed to represent professional engineers for a term expiring March 31, 2011. He succeeds Ronald L. Hausmann whose term has expired.
Daniel A. Redstone of West Bloomfield, president and chief operating officer of Redstone Architects, is reappointed to represent architects for a term expiring on March 31, 2011.
Steven C. Flum of Detroit, president and owner of Steven C. Flum, Inc. architect firm, is reappointed to represent architects for a term expiring March 31, 2012.
The Board of Architects provides for the registration of persons practicing architecture, sets qualifications for registration, and prescribes penalties.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Board of Professional Surveyors
George Y. Karmo of Farmington Hills, president of Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull, Inc., is appointed to represent professional engineers for a term expiring March 31, 2008 and is reappointed for a term expiring March 31, 2012. He succeeds Regine C. Beauboeuf who has resigned,
Karol L. Grove of Highland, owner and president of Alpine Land Surveying, Inc., is reappointed to represent professional surveyors for a term expiring March 31, 2012.
William L. Karr of Pickford, co-owner of Northwoods Land Surveying, Inc., is reappointed to represent professional surveyors for a term expiring March 31, 2011.
Daniel A. Redstone of West Bloomfield, president and chief operating officer of Redstone Architects, is reappointed to represent professional architects for a term expiring March 31, 2011.

Board of Professional Engineers
Charles Dulic of East Lansing, senior vice president of HNTB Michigan, Inc., is appointed to represent professional engineers for a term expiring March 31, 2008, and reappointed for a term expiring March 31, 2012. He succeeds Regine C. Beauboeuf who has resigned.
Keith M. Swaffar of Riverview, president and chief executive officer of NTH Consultants, Ltd., is appointed to represent professional engineers for a term expiring March 31, 2011. He succeeds Ronald L. Hausmann whose term has expired.
Karol L. Grove of Highland, owner and president of Alpine Land Surveying, Inc., is reappointed to represent professional surveyors for a term expiring March 31, 2012.
The Board of Professional Engineers is responsible for establishing requirements for the registration of persons practicing engineering, as well as orders, rules, and regulations that specify standards of professional conduct. The board also provides for penalties when standards are not met. Pursuant to statutory provisions of the Occupational Code, one member of the Board of Architects serves on the Board of Professional Engineers.
