Governor Granholm Announces Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
State Historical Records Advisory Board
Frank J. Boles, Ph.D. of Mount Pleasant, director of the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
Francis X. Blouin, Jr., Ph.D. of Ann Arbor, director of the Bentley Library at the University of Michigan, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2008.
Patrice R. Merritt of Detroit, executive director of The Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2008.
Tawny R. Nelb of Midland, president of Nelb Archival Consulting, Inc., is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2009.
Erik C. Nordberg of Calumet, university archivist for Michigan Technology University Archives, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
The State Historical Records Advisory Board serves as a central advisory body for historical records planning and for National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC)-funded projects in the state. The board acts as a coordinating body to facilitate cooperation and communication among historical records repositories and information agencies within the state and as a state-level review body for grant proposals that meet NHPRC grant program guidelines.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Governor's Task Force on Children's Justice
Frederick A. Johansen, M.D. of St. Joseph, medical director for Berrien, VanBuren and Cass County Health Departments and president of the Michigan Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Physicians, is appointed to represent health professionals for a term expiring June 30, 2009.
The Governor's Task Force on Children's Justice is responsible for the review and evaluation of the handling of child abuse cases in Michigan. It also makes recommendations to the governor on potential courses of action that, if taken, would improve the efficiency of the current system in order to better protect children, punish abusers, and enhance the laws governing child abuse while ensuring due process of law to all parties involved.
This appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate
