Granholm Appoints Dowd to 68th District Court

LANSING- Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of M. Cathy Dowd as judge of the 68th District Court, which serves the city of Flint, for a term expiring January 1, 2011. She replaces Judge Ramona M. Roberts who has resigned.
Dowd, of Flint, most recently served as assistant city attorney for the city of Flint. Previously, she served as magistrate for the 67th District Court and as an attorney with Newland Law Offices. She serves on the board of directors for the Easter Seals of Michigan and is past president of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and a former Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint board member.
Dowd earned her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
