Governor Granholm Announces Appointments to Oakland University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Oakland University Board of Control:
Richard A. Flynn of Sterling Heights, executive director of the Michigan Education Association, MEA-NEA Local 1, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 11, 2016. He succeeds Penny M. Crissman whose term has expired.
Michael R. Kramer of Bloomfield Hills, partner with Dickinson Wright PLLC, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 11, 2016. He succeeds David T. Fischer, Sr. whose term has expired.
The Oakland University Board of Control is the governing body for the university. The board oversees the conduct of the university's affairs, has control of the university's property, and has the ability to fix tuition and other fees, appoint and/or remove personnel, and determine compensation to be paid for services and property.
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
