Granholm Visits Growing High-Tech Company Microposite in Auburn Hills

December 17, 2008

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today visited Microposite Inc., an early-stage company that has begun production of a revolutionary and environmentally friendly residential siding product.  The governor thanked the company for its commitment to Michigan and cited Microposite as an excellent example of the kind of company we want to help grow here in Michigan.  A key part of Granholm's economic plan to grow Michigan's economy is to help companies create jobs in Michigan's emerging green sectors.

"We are targeting innovative companies like Microposite to diversify and grow our state's economy," Granholm said.  "This is the kind of company that will create good-paying jobs and help Michigan become a leader in green manufacturing processes and products that will increase energy savings and help protect our environment."

Microposite designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite materials for construction industry applications.  The company uses patented, cutting-edge, closed-cell technology to deliver residential siding materials that offer durable, energy-efficient and eco-friendly performance.  Microposite got its start in the auto and aerospace industries as a supplier of composite materials.  The company has received honors in both industries.

Support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, including a Michigan Economic Growth Authority state tax credit and co-investment through the Michigan 21st Century Investment Fund, has helped convince the company to invest and grow in Michigan over competing sites in other states.

Microposite also received support from the Invest Michigan! program that is designed to grow the state's pension funds by investing in new businesses in emerging sectors and encouraging companies in established industries to innovate and expand.

"Microposite is a prime example of a company diversifying its business to grow and create new jobs," Granholm said.  "We look forward to working with them as they market their revolutionary made-in-Michigan product throughout the United States and beyond.
