Governor Granholm Announces Appointment to Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Larry D. Alexander, president and chief executive officer of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, to the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority. Alexander is appointed for a term expiring August 31, 2010.
The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority is responsible for overseeing the development, ongoing management and operation of Cobo Hall in an efficient and effective manner. Created by the Regional Convention Facility Authority Act of 2008; the authority is a municipal public body corporate and politic, and is a metropolitan authority authorized by section 27 of article VII of the state constitution of 1963. The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority is not a state authority or a state agency.
This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
