Governor Granholm Announces Appointment of Robert Porter as Michigan Exposition and Fairgrounds Authority Manager

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Robert Porter as the state exposition and fairgrounds authority manager.

Porter, former mayor of Ferndale and current member of the state exposition and fairgrounds authority board, is appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.  He succeeds Steven Jenkins who has resigned.

"We want to thank Steve Jenkins for his service to the Michigan State Fair," said Mark Gaffney, chair of the authority board.  "With Robert Porter's  experience as a member of the authority board, he is a great choice to manage the 2009 Michigan State Fair."

This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
